Bournemouth have launched an investigation into social media posts allegedly involving right-back Alex Jimenez, prompting his removal from the squad for this weekend's Premier League fixture against Fulham.
The 21-year-old, who joined Bournemouth permanently from AC Milan in January after an initial loan spell, has been a regular this season with 32 appearances across all competitions. However, the club confirmed on Friday that he will not be considered for selection as they look into the matter.
In a brief statement, Bournemouth said: “The club understand the seriousness of the matter and it is currently being investigated. As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham and the club will be making no further comment at this time.”
The nature of the posts has not been disclosed, but the club described them as being of a serious nature. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been provided.
