AFC Bournemouth have confirmed the appointment of Marco Rose as the club's new head coach on a three-year contract, with the German set to take over following the departure of Andoni Iraola at the end of the season.
Rose, 49, has been out of work since leaving RB Leipzig in March 2025 and brings experience from previous roles at Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Red Bull Salzburg, though he has no Premier League background as either a player or manager.
A club statement stressed that immediate focus remains on the current campaign, with Bournemouth enjoying a 13-match unbeaten run and still in contention for European qualification. The statement expressed delight at securing Rose’s services, citing his wealth of experience at the highest level of European football.
Rose enjoyed a 16-year playing career, winning the 2. Bundesliga with Hannover 96 in 2002, and as a manager prefers a diamond midfield and a back-four. He faces the challenge of filling the shoes of Iraola, who has led a highly successful tenure at the Vitality Stadium.
