Bournemouth are closing in on a £25m deal to sign Liverpool forward Ben Doak. The 19-year-old Scotland international would represent a substantial profit for Liverpool, who paid Celtic £600,000 in training compensation two years ago.
Doak’s future at Anfield looked promising under Jürgen Klopp, but a combination of the German's departure, injuries, and Mohamed Salah's form made a move increasingly likely. He spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, but a thigh injury requiring surgery ended his campaign in late January.
Doak was an unused substitute in last Sunday’s Community Shield. His arrival at the Vitality Stadium coincides with Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara poised to join Brentford for up to £42.5m. Bournemouth have already signed French centre-back Bafode Diakité from Lille for £34.5m this week, and Luis Sinisterra is expected to move on loan to Cruzeiro.
