David Beckham has hailed Michael Carrick for restoring a sense of calm to Manchester United, suggesting the club has lacked such stability for a decade. Speaking on talkSPORT, the former United star credited Carrick's experience and composure for the team's recent resurgence under his interim management.
Carrick took charge in January after Ruben Amorim's dismissal, with United languishing in sixth place. Since then, he has won seven of ten fixtures, amassing 23 points from a possible 30 to lift the club to third in the Premier League, boosting their Champions League qualification hopes.
Beckham noted: “The last few months have been a lot more comfortable than the last 10 years… Michael’s got a calmness about him that he’s brought into the club. He knows the club, knows the players, and knows the way Man United should play.” He added that Carrick’s elegance on the touchline has been exactly what the fans needed.
Carrick, appointed until the end of the season, has deflected questions about becoming permanent manager, focusing on the remaining seven league fixtures. United hold a six-point cushion over fifth-placed Liverpool, making them strong contenders for a top-four finish. The club have also been linked with Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner, Roberto De Zerbi, and Gareth Southgate, but have yet to begin formal discussions with candidates.
