Beckham backed to replace Ratcliffe as Man Utd owner
Beckham backed to become Man Utd owner

David Beckham has been backed to become the new owner of Manchester United. The club have become the laughing stock of English football following a shambolic start to the season.

Michael Carrick's men have won just two of 13 games in all competitions, a run which includes nine matches without victory. Fuming supporters have turned on co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has made no impact since buying a stake in the club in 2024. Long-time owners the Glazers remain figures of hate in the eyes of the United fanbase.

Beckham's Success at Inter Miami

Former United favourite Beckham has made a success of co-owning Inter Miami. Beckham and his consortium have gone on to build a new stadium for the MLS outfit, while luring the likes of Lionel Messi, Casemiro, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets to the Floridian club.

Beckham remains a hugely popular figure with United fans, following his 11 successful years as a player at Old Trafford. And former team-mate Paul Scholes believes Beckham and his backers would be welcomed with open arms as United owners.

Scholes Backs Beckham Takeover

Scholes told The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, sponsored by Midnite: "I don't see why not. If they've got the wealth to do it, he can if he wants to do it, more importantly. Then, knowing David as we do, he'd probably just sit in the background anyway.

"If his name was involved. He won't present at games like at Inter Miami, I suppose."

"These owners haven't worked, and I know Jim Ratcliffe's only been there for two and a half years, but it just hasn't worked so far, has it? We all know what the feeling around the club is about the Glazers, so I'd be open to anybody."
