Harry Kane is set for a significant week as the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or while Bayern Munich work to remove a Tottenham clause from his contract during negotiations over an extension.
Kane is in London on Monday as the favourite to win football's most prestigious individual prize, though he faces strong competition from Kylian Mbappe.
Contract talks progress
The England captain has been in discussions with Bayern over a contract extension for some time, with his current deal set to expire at the end of this season.
Kane told beIN SPORTS in September: "I'm extremely happy here. The talks are ongoing. I really appreciate the support the fans are showing me here."
Tottenham clause under scrutiny
Kane's former club Tottenham have a confirmed clause in the current contract which means they can match any bid made for the striker.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano suggested that Bayern would look at removing such clauses as they aim to tie down the striker and rule out a return to the Premier League.
Romano recently said on his YouTube channel: "It's about the length of the contract, how many years, how to sort that clause Harry Kane had in his contract for a Premier League return, for Tottenham matching rights. I think it's happening. It's very close."
Confidence at Bayern
Bayern supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has also expressed confidence that a deal can be reached, praising Kane's importance to the club.
"I'm optimistic that they will find a good solution," he said.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are due any financial reward should Kane win the Ballon d'Or. Kane, Bayern and potentially Tottenham could all be celebrating this week.
