Barnsley manager Conor Hourihane has criticised Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai for what he described as a 'disrespectful' backheel that led to a goal for the League One side in their FA Cup third-round tie at Anfield.
Szoboszlai had scored the opening goal and set up Jeremie Frimpong for Liverpool's second, but his attempted backheel inside his own six-yard box went horribly wrong, allowing former Reds striker Adam Phillips to nip in and score just before half-time.
Hourihane, a former Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland midfielder, said: 'First and foremost it's such an amazing feeling for Adam to score in front of the Kop. He is a Liverpool fan and came up through the Academy here and had an outstanding game. But I'm a little bit disappointed with their player if I'm honest. I thought he was a little bit disrespectful. I don't think he does that against Chelsea or Arsenal or in a Champions League game.'
Barnsley kept the scoreline at 2-1 until late goals from substitutes Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike sealed a 4-1 win for Liverpool, setting up a fourth-round tie at home to Brighton. Hourihane praised his side's performance, saying: 'I'm really, really proud, I thought the lads were outstanding. We had a gameplan to keep us in the game for as long as possible.'
