Bradley Barcola is in line to make his Liverpool debut as the Premier League weekend opens at Ipswich on Friday night. The France international left Paris Saint-Germain for Merseyside last week in a deal worth £123 million, arriving to add star quality to Andoni Iraola's frontline.
The 24-year-old is not expected to start against the Tractor Boys, but he could feature from the bench at Portman Road. If the winger does not make his bow from the off, Iraola is likely to keep his wide men constant from the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest last time out.
Wide men set to keep places
Cody Gakpo, who has remained at Anfield despite heavy interest from Manchester City, was off the right, with new recruit Victor Munoz off the left. Munoz netted his first goal in his new colours, smashing home the equaliser late on at Anfield.
Rio Ngumoha started in Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Newcastle on the opening weekend, but after the Spaniard's point-saving heroics, he is likely to keep his place. Ryan Gravenberch will battle Alexis Mac Allister for a central midfield starting berth alongside Dominik Szoboszlai.
Injury concerns and predicted XI
Liverpool have a spate of injuries with three players in Giovanni Leoni, Hugo Ekitike and Conor Bradley out for the long term. Jeremy Jacquet should continue to partner Virgil van Dijk at the back despite the Frenchman being subbed twice in two games already for fellow central defensive signing Ronald Araujo.
Jacquet, who arrived in a pre-agreed £60m move from Rennes, had suffered with a shoulder problem that curtailed his final term in France, and he battled another issue in pre-season, limiting his involvement with his new side.
Predicted Liverpool XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Frimpong, Van Dijk, Jacquet, Kerkez; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch; Gakpo, Wirtz, Munoz; Isak
Injured: Ekitike, Gomez, Bradley, Leoni. Doubt: Chiesa.
Date and time: 8pm BST on Friday, September 4, 2026. Venue: Portman Road. How to watch: Sky Sports.
