Atletico Madrid have identified two possible replacements for Julian Alvarez as Arsenal push to sign the forward. In an intriguing transfer twist, Atleti are considering moves for Gunners striker Gabriel Jesus, along with Brazil team-mate Igor Jesus, before the transfer window closes.
Alvarez's exit path
According to Fichajes, the Spanish club are weighing up moves for both players amid ongoing uncertainty over Alvarez's future. Alvarez remains determined to leave Atletico this summer, but a move to preferred destination Barcelona has repeatedly been ruled out.
It leaves Arsenal as the only other viable option for the former Manchester City star, who needs to be convinced of a return to the Premier League. Such is Alvarez's desire to leave - having missed training on Wednesday and Thursday - that Atletico have been prompted to identify a replacement.
Arsenal forward's situation
Gabriel Jesus has no future at Arsenal, and Mikel Arteta confirmed this week that the player is not currently training with the first team. He is expected to be available for transfer even if Alvarez does not end up at the Emirates Stadium.
Igor Jesus, who plays for Nottingham Forest, has attracted interest from Atletico previously and could now become a more serious target in the final days of the summer window. Forest have just signed Liam Delap from Chelsea in a deal worth £45million.
