Arsene Wenger has congratulated Arsenal on securing the Premier League title for the first time since 2004. The Gunners were confirmed champions after Manchester City could only draw 1-1 with Bournemouth, leaving them unable to extend the race to the final day.
In a statement shared on Arsenal's social media, Wenger said: 'You did it. Champions go on, when others stop. This is your time. Now, go on and enjoy every moment.' Mikel Arteta's side have led the division for most of the campaign and will receive the trophy after Sunday's match against Crystal Palace.
Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith praised the team on Sky Sports, calling the title 'fully deserved' and highlighting Arteta's work in building a strong defensive unit. Smith added that the Champions League final now feels like 'a free hit'.
Declan Rice posted on Instagram alongside team-mates with the caption: 'I told you all.. it's done.' The triumph ends a six-year trophy drought and is Arteta's second major honour, following the 2020 FA Cup. Arsenal could yet complete a historic double in the Champions League final against Paris St Germain later this month.
