Arsenal have proposed a 25 per cent reduction on Wilshere's current £120,000 per week wages, offering a new deal worth around £100,000 weekly. However, it is believed the England international is reluctant to accept terms when teammates Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan earn more than double that amount.
The club's financial strategy remains self-financing, as outlined by chairman Sir Chips Keswick. Arsenal made a substantial profit from summer transfers, including sales of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wojciech Szczesny, Kieran Gibbs, and Gabriel. January business saw big-money moves for Aubameyang offset by the departures of Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, and Francis Coquelin.
Meanwhile, Wales manager Ryan Giggs has urged Aaron Ramsey to resolve his own contract situation promptly. Ramsey enters the final year of his deal, and Arsenal have previously allowed key players like Alexis Sanchez to run down their contracts.
