Arsenal have announced a major boardroom restructuring, with executive vice-chair Tim Lewis leaving the club after 17 years of service. Lewis, who had been a key advisor to the Kroenke family since 2007 and joined the board as a director in 2019, stepped down from his role as part of the shake-up.
In a statement, Arsenal confirmed that managing director Richard Garlick has been promoted to chief executive officer. Garlick, who joined the club in 2021 as director of football operations, has led the executive team since becoming managing director last year.
Four new non-executive directors have been appointed to the board: Kelly Blaha and Otto Maly from Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, long-time KSE advisor Dave Steiner, and producer-director Ben Winston, a season ticket holder for over 30 years. Lord Harris of Peckham retains his position alongside owners Josh and Stan Kroenke.
Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke thanked Lewis for his dedication during a period of transformational change, while praising Garlick's impact. The club said the new board members bring diverse expertise from finance, sport, media, and entertainment to support Arsenal's ambitions.
Lewis's departure follows that of former sporting director Edu last November, who was replaced by Andrea Berta earlier this year. Arsenal spent nearly £250 million on new signings this summer as they aim for a first Premier League title in over two decades.
