Arsenal have moved quickly to fend off interest in their teenage star Max Dowman, agreeing scholarship terms with the 15-year-old after his departure from Chelsea. The youngster, a lifelong Arsenal fan, made his first-team debut against Leeds United earlier this season and has committed to a two-year scholarship deal.
Despite potentially more lucrative offers from elsewhere, Dowman's determination to stay at his boyhood club proved decisive. His father handled negotiations, leading to a swift resolution. Once Dowman turns 16 on December 31, a professional contract can be pre-agreed to take effect on his 17th birthday.
The news comes as a boost for Arsenal after losing young talents Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi to Manchester United last year. Sporting director Andrea Berta has also secured long-term deals for fellow teenagers Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri over the summer.
Dowman's first-team opportunities have lessened recently due to the return of senior players, but his potential remains highly rated. Manager Mikel Arteta praised Lewis-Skelly's recent performance against Atletico Madrid, highlighting the depth of young talent at the club.
