Arsenal are preparing for a busy January transfer window, with the club reportedly plotting a double swoop to strengthen their attack and facing the potential departure of midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
The Gunners currently sit three points clear at the top of the Premier League and face Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Wednesday. Their only notable setback this season was a Carabao Cup exit on penalties to League Two side Fleetwood Town, which has eased fixture congestion heading into the festive period.
Double January swoop plotted
Mikel Arteta is reportedly pushing to resolve the club's attacking concerns when the transfer market reopens. Arsenal are keen to revisit their interest in Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, although the Cherries are reluctant to sell in January. Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz also remains on the list of targets as they look to strengthen the left flank.
The priority, according to reports, is a versatile forward who can play in multiple positions. Arsenal's defence has been strong this season, with summer signing Ezri Konsa deputising for the injured William Saliba, who has now returned to training.
£60m star 'wants out'
Martin Zubimendi has seen his minutes severely limited since returning from winning the World Cup with Spain. After a mixed first season in north London, he now finds himself behind Bruno Guimaraes in the midfield pecking order, with Myles Lewis-Skelly and Mikel Merino largely favoured as rotation options.
According to TEAMtalk, Zubimendi is ready to leave in January to get his career back on track. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are credited with an interest in taking him back to Spain. With a contract until 2030, Arsenal will be keen to at least recoup the £60m they spent to sign him last year.
