Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo has indicated that he favours a move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports. The 25-year-old Cameroon international, who scored 20 Premier League goals in the 2024/25 season, has attracted interest from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur, but he has chosen United as his preferred destination.
Manchester United are now expected to enter talks with Brentford over a deal for the forward. Mbeumo has just one year remaining on his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, though the Bees hold an option to extend it by a further 12 months. The transfer is unlikely to be cheap, with a fee of around £50 million mooted.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has acknowledged that it will take a significant offer to prise Mbeumo away. "It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount. It is a lot," Frank said. "Then it is clear that it is impossible to replace him one for one. It cannot be done."
Mbeumo's desire to play Champions League football is said to be a key factor in his decision, although United cannot offer that after finishing 15th in the Premier League and losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final. Despite interest from clubs that have qualified for Europe's top competition, the forward has opted for Old Trafford.
United turned their attention to Mbeumo after missing out on Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, who has opted to join Chelsea. The Red Devils have already strengthened their attack with the signing of Matheus Cunha, and they hope to add Mbeumo to Ruben Amorim's squad for the upcoming season.
