Arne Slot has pledged to develop his Liverpool side further after clinching the Premier League title in his debut season. The Dutchman became the sixth manager to win the league in his first campaign, joining the likes of Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti.
Slot lifted the trophy after a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, secured by a late Mohamed Salah volley. Liverpool dominated from early November, but Slot acknowledged areas for improvement. 'You always have to try to become better. There are a few things in our game that we can improve,' he said.
The manager ruled out major squad overhauls, noting the contract extensions of Salah and Virgil van Dijk as key. 'It would be weird if we were completely different, but we have to adapt. If there is a possibility, you try to strengthen with players you bring in,' Slot explained.
Reports link Liverpool with Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. Slot confirmed alignment with sporting director Richard Hughes and ownership on transfer targets, but stressed continuity. 'It's already very positive that we kept [Salah] and [Van Dijk],' he added.
Slot emphasised long-term planning, stating that preparations for next season began during the current campaign. Liverpool failed to win their final four matches after securing the title, but Slot remained focused on future improvements.
