Araujo hints at timing of Liverpool future decision
Araujo hints at when Liverpool future decision will come

Ronald Araujo has indicated that a decision on his Liverpool future will not be made until much later in the season, despite expressing his happiness at the club since joining on loan from Barcelona in August.

The 27-year-old Uruguayan has made 14 appearances for Liverpool to date, scoring two goals and providing an assist, and has established himself at right-back under head coach Andoni Iraola. Liverpool hold a £47m purchase option to sign the defender permanently from the Catalan club.

Araujo's happiness at Anfield

Araujo told Sky Sports that he is enjoying his time at the club and feels settled since his arrival.

“The truth is I am very happy, very happy,” he said. “It all happened so quickly but I am very happy, very grateful to the people.

“From the moment I arrived here at the club, they’ve made me feel like one of them. So I’m grateful for the love from people, very grateful. Truly, thank you! Also my teammates, the coaching staff, the people that work at the club.

Future decision timeline

Despite his positive start, Araujo stressed that no decision about his future will be made until later in the campaign.

“There’s still a lot of time left, I can’t speak about the future if I don’t know what will happen by the time the decision is made. And there are still many months to go before that,” he said.

“So I am trying to enjoy every day, give everything I can, continue working hard, continue growing, and helping the squad so we can win titles, because I strongly believe in the team.”

Liverpool return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Fenerbahce in the Champions League.
