Ruben Amorim has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo's recent criticism of Manchester United, agreeing that the club has made significant errors in the past but insisting the focus should be on future improvements. The United manager addressed the media ahead of Saturday's match against Tottenham.
Ronaldo, in an interview with Piers Morgan, claimed Amorim faces an impossible task due to the club's lack of structure. 'Miracles is impossible,' Ronaldo said, adding that some players do not understand what Manchester United represents.
Amorim acknowledged Ronaldo's influence but urged a forward-looking approach. 'Of course, he knows he has huge impact on everything he says. But what we need to focus on is in future. We know as a club we made a lot of mistakes in the past. We are trying to change that,' Amorim said.
The Portuguese manager outlined ongoing changes at the club, including structure and player behaviour. 'Let’s forget a little bit the past,' he added. Ronaldo left United in December 2022 after a contentious second spell and has repeatedly criticised the club since.
