Amorim Silent on Man Utd Transfer Plans Ahead of Leeds Clash

Ruben Amorim refused to discuss Manchester United's transfer activity during a press conference ahead of Sunday's Premier League match against Leeds United. The Portuguese manager remained tight-lipped when questioned about his earlier remarks regarding the club's recruitment strategy.

Speaking before the Leeds game, Amorim hinted at possible dissatisfaction with the board's approach, stating, 'I have the feeling if we have to play a perfect 3-4-3, we need to spend a lot of money and we need time. I'm starting to understand that is not going to happen. So, maybe I have to adapt.' However, when pressed further, he declined to elaborate, saying, 'I don't want to talk about that. I just focus on the Leeds game.'

Amorim admitted in December that his recruitment ideas sometimes differ from those of director of football Jason Wilcox, but stressed the importance of finding 'common ground' before any new signings. Yet, ahead of the Leeds match, he suggested the January transfer window would be quiet: 'The transfer window is not going to change. We have no conversations at this moment to have any change in the squad. There's a process, there's an idea that is going to continue.'

Manchester United invested heavily over the summer, bringing in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko for a combined £200 million. The club is now focusing on strengthening midfield, with potential targets including Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton, and Elliot Anderson, all of whom would command significant fees.

United entered the Leeds match in sixth place, three points behind the top four and three ahead of Fulham. Despite having no European commitments, the team has struggled to impress this season. Rumours of interest in Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo proved unfounded, as the winger is set to join Manchester City instead.
