Jet2 tells passengers to check flights 12 hours before

Jet2 passengers are being urged to check the airline's "Travel information" section at least 12 hours before their scheduled departure, as countless UK holidaymakers jet abroad while children are on their school break. The advice comes as Jet2 and other airlines are operating through a very busy summer for overseas travel.

Instructions on that part of the website say: "You can check updates, times and the status of your particular flight in more detail here. Simply choose a departure and arrival airport or enter a flight number and select 'Go'."

Airport arrival and check-in advice

Passengers are told to review the section "at least 12 hours before your flight for the latest flight information". Additional details can be found using the search panel by entering a flight number or route. Jet2 advises arriving at the airport a minimum of two hours before the scheduled departure time, with check-in desks closing 40 minutes before that.

If flight disruption occurs, Jet2 says its specialist Operations teams will be "working hard behind the scenes at our UK-based HQ to get you on your way as quickly as possible." Jet2 now flies from 14 UK airports: Belfast, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool John Lennon, London Gatwick, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle.

EU Entry/Exit System

Travellers are reminded that the European Union has introduced a new border immigration system, the Entry/Exit System (EES), which will affect UK and other non-EU passport holders when travelling to most European nations, including popular destinations such as Spain and Greece. This is separate from ETIAS, a form of online visa being rolled out later in 2026.

There may be extended waiting times than normal when you reach your destination and before your flight back to the UK. Jet2 added: "We're really sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but unfortunately this is outside of our control."
