Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has expressed strong support for interim manager Michael Carrick to be appointed on a permanent basis, claiming the sentiment is shared throughout the squad. Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim in January and has guided the club to Champions League qualification with three games to spare.
Diallo's endorsement follows similar backing from teammates Kobbie Mainoo, Matheus Cunha and Casemiro. Mainoo declared that players 'want to die for' Carrick after last Sunday's 3-2 win over Liverpool. The 23-year-old Ivorian told Sky Sports: 'Honestly, it’s not the player who decides who is going to stay here next season, but everyone is happy to have him as manager. We will be happy if we have him next season.'
Diallo highlighted the improvement in team spirit under Carrick, saying the 'biggest change' is that the team is now 'more impactful' and united. 'Every mistake is not a problem; your mistake is my mistake,' he explained, attributing the shift to Carrick and his staff.
United, currently third in the Premier League, face Sunderland next. Diallo spent a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light in 2022-23 under Tony Mowbray, whom he described as 'like a dad and manager'. He remains a keen follower of Sunderland's results.
