Alisha Lehmann Joins FC Como Women on Three-Year Deal

Switzerland international Alisha Lehmann has signed a three-year contract with FC Como Women, leaving Juventus after helping the Turin club secure a league and cup double last season. The 26-year-old winger, who boasts over 16 million Instagram and 12 million TikTok followers, arrives at a club that finished in the bottom half of Serie A in the previous campaign and does not offer European football.

Lehmann cited the club’s independent status and female-first mentality as key factors in her decision. ‘It’s an independent club, fully focused on women’s football – and that really matters to me,’ she said. ‘Signing with FC Como Women just felt right.’ The forward, who previously played for Aston Villa, Everton, and West Ham, added that she sees the move as part of a broader movement to define women’s football on its own terms.

FC Como Women were acquired in 2024 by investment group Mercury13, which has pledged to tailor everything within the organisation towards women’s football. The group has attracted high-profile investors including Italy legend Giorgio Chiellini and former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata. Unlike many clubs, Como Women have no affiliation with a men’s team.

Lehmann emphasised her desire to compete and develop as an athlete. ‘I came here to play football and hope to earn my place by working hard,’ she said. ‘What I love is that they take the game seriously, but also create space for players to be themselves.’ Her arrival comes at a promising time for Italian women’s football, following Italy’s run to the Euro 2025 semi-finals and the nation’s bid to host the 2029 European Championship.

Lehmann, who has 62 caps for Switzerland and featured at Euro 2025 and the 2023 World Cup, expressed optimism about the league’s potential. ‘Serie A Women can become a real force in Europe,’ she said. ‘Being part of that journey is something I’m really excited about.’
