The German-constructed Deep Blue, measuring 439 feet in length and weighing 9,000 tonnes, features five decks complete with a helipad and dual swimming pools.
Secretive Build and Journey
Launched in June of the previous year, Deep Blue was crafted under a veil of secrecy by the esteemed luxury shipbuilder Lürssen. The vessel embarked from Lemweder port in Germany last week, making a notable pause at Poole Harbour in Dorset this past Friday during its transit to the new owner.
Ownership Speculation
While official confirmation of ownership remains pending, industry insiders have consistently associated the superyacht with Richard Qiangdong Liu. Mr. Liu, the founder of the prominent Chinese retail giant JD.com, boasts an estimated net worth of $6 billion.
Construction and Specifications
Construction on Deep Blue commenced in 2021, with the hull completed and launched on a floating dock in July 2023. Subsequently, the bow was integrated with the remainder of the vessel. The ship, which reportedly incurs an annual operating cost of £34 million, can accommodate up to 24 guests and requires a crew of at least 45.
Luxurious Amenities
Deep Blue offers an array of opulent features expected of a high-end yacht. Onboard facilities include a spa, gym, beauty room, private cinema, bar, jacuzzi, and an infinity pool. The design incorporates extensive glass windows encircling each level, arranged in a distinctive tiered structure.

Deep Blue represents just one of numerous luxury vessels produced by Lürssen for the ultra-wealthy. The shipbuilder's previous projects include the Al Said yacht for the Sultan of Oman and the Rising Sun for Oracle CEO Sam Ellison.
