Max Verstappen has firmly shut down suggestions he would consider a move to Ferrari, while fans have reacted angrily to a late change to the Singapore Grand Prix circuit.
The four-time Formula 1 world champion was quizzed on his Red Bull future ahead of this weekend's race in Singapore, with the Dutchman continuing to be linked with a switch to the Italian team after a challenging campaign.
Verstappen's blunt Ferrari response
Verstappen moved quickly to dismiss the speculation, and in doing so made a comment about nostalgia which some might interpret as a reference to Ferrari having gone more than a decade without winning the constructors' championship.
"I only want to win. I am not a nostalgic type," Verstappen said. "Do I have a lot of respect for the [Ferrari] brand? Absolutely. But if that means you then commit yourself, and you are driving P5 or P6, what's the point?"
"I am very performance-driven, and I have won a lot with this team already. It is a second family at Red Bull, and the challenge of rebuilding is what's driving me," he added.
Fans fume at Singapore change
The Singapore Grand Prix has seen elements of the circuit amended over the years, but the latest change at turn 10 has not gone down well with fans. The outer wall at the entry to the turn has been amended for the 2026 edition, the part of the track where a final-lap crash cost George Russell a podium in 2023.
Some race fans feel things are being made too easy for competitors. "Jesus. Let's make them drive around with their pit speed limiter on too shall we," one tongue-in-cheek response read.
"They can't race in the rain, now we're making tracks easier for them. Aren't they supposed to be the Top Tier Drivers and Best in the world?" said another.
"Why are they removing any meaningful challenges?" asked a third. "This is getting ridiculous now. they just make sure drivers have to be less and less focused.."
