Oscar Onley's Tour de France Dream: Rising Star Set for Grand Début
Oscar Onley set for Tour de France debut

Oscar Onley, the rising star of British cycling, is set to make his highly anticipated Tour de France debut this summer. The 21-year-old Scot, riding for Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL, has been named in the squad for the 2024 edition of cycling's most prestigious race.

A Meteoric Rise

Onley's inclusion comes after a breakthrough season that saw him claim his first WorldTour victory at the Tour of the Alps last year. His climbing prowess and tactical maturity have marked him out as one of Britain's most exciting young talents.

Team DSM's Faith in Youth

"We believe Oscar has shown he's ready for this challenge," said Team DSM's performance director. "His progression through our development system has been exceptional, and he's earned this opportunity through consistent performances."

Preparing for the Biggest Test

The three-week Grand Tour will be the ultimate test for Onley, who has previously competed in shorter stage races. "It's a dream come true," Onley told reporters. "I've been visualising this moment since I was a kid watching the Tour on TV."

Scottish Cycling's New Hope

Onley follows in the wheel tracks of Scottish cycling greats like Robert Millar and David Millar. His participation continues Britain's strong tradition in the race since Bradley Wiggins' historic 2012 victory.

The 2024 Tour de France begins in Florence on 29 June, with the peloton tackling challenging mountain stages before the traditional finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris on 21 July.
