England paceman Ollie Robinson has been bowling to Australia's Steve Smith and Sam Konstas in nets ahead of the Ashes, following his short-term signing with Sydney University Cricket Club.
The 31-year-old Sussex seamer, who has taken 79 wickets in 20 Tests for England, is now in prime position to be called up as bowling reinforcement during the gruelling tour.
Robinson's presence in Sydney comes after he courted controversy during the 2023 home Ashes, when he directed an expletive-laden send-off at Australia opener Usman Khawaja.
Smith, Australia's stand-in captain, and Konstas, who was not selected for the first Test, faced Robinson in the nets at New South Wales Blues.
Sydney University announced Robinson's arrival via an Instagram post, stating he has 474 first-class wickets at an average of 21.59 from 112 matches.
