Ishan Kishan powers India to emphatic T20 World Cup win over Pakistan

India secured a dominant 61-run victory over Pakistan in their T20 World Cup group clash, powered by a scintillating innings from opener Ishan Kishan. Chasing a target of 176, Pakistan were bowled out for just 114, with their top order collapsing under pressure from India's pace attack.

Kishan was the undisputed star, smashing 77 runs off 40 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes. His contribution was remarkable given the difficult batting surface, as he accounted for 88.5% of India's runs when he was dismissed. Captain Suryakumar Yadav praised Kishan's audacious approach, saying, 'Ishan thought something out of the box. Someone needed to take responsibility and he did that amazingly.'

Pakistan captain Salman Agha won the toss and elected to bowl, bringing himself on for the first time this year, but Kishan survived two early scares before finding his rhythm. Pakistan's spin-heavy attack, which bowled only two overs of seam, struggled to contain him. Salman later admitted, 'Our spinners had an off day. The pitch played better in the second innings but we did not bowl according to the situation and we did not apply ourselves with the bat.'

In reply, Pakistan never recovered from a disastrous start. Hardik Pandya opened with a wicket maiden and finished with the final wicket, while Jasprit Bumrah removed Saim Ayub with a brilliant yorker. Pakistan's top four combined for a mere 15 runs off 17 balls, and they were seven down before reaching halfway.

The result confirmed India's qualification for the Super Eights with a match to spare. Pakistan, however, must beat Namibia in their final group game to avoid elimination. Salman remained defiant, saying, 'We need to win that and qualify. Then it is a new tournament.'
