Kingsway Regional High School Coach Stephen Iannotti Found Dead After Week-Long Search
High School Football Coach Found Dead After Christmas Disappearance

The local community in Woolwich Township, New Jersey, is in mourning after the body of a respected high school football coach was discovered, ending a desperate week-long search.

A Community's Search Ends in Tragedy

Stephen Iannotti, 72, was pronounced dead after police located his body in a remote area of Cumberland County. The discovery came a full week after he was first reported missing by his concerned family on Christmas Day. The teacher and coach, who worked with the freshman football team at Kingsway Regional High School, was found in a 1997 Jeep Wrangler. Authorities have not yet confirmed an official cause of death but stated initially that they do not suspect foul play.

An Outpouring of Grief and Fond Memories

In the wake of the sad news, students, colleagues, and friends have flooded social media with heartfelt tributes, painting a picture of a dedicated and kind-hearted educator. One fellow teacher posted on Facebook, describing Iannotti as "a joy to work with" who genuinely cared for both students and staff, adding he would be "missed by all who knew him."

A former student wrote emotionally: "He was one of my favourite teachers at Kingsway Regional High School and an overall awesome guy to know. I will miss you Mr I. RIP." Another colleague shared a touching reflection on Iannotti's mentorship, stating: "He graciously accepted me, guided me and generally showed me the ropes. Everything I came to be was as a result of Steve Iannotti."

The Investigation and Final Movements

The Logan Police Department provided details on Iannotti's disappearance. He was last seen on neighbour's Ring surveillance footage leaving his home at 12:45 pm ET on December 26. Notably, his mobile phone was found on a couch inside his residence, which family said was not unusual for him. His vehicle did not cross any major bridges after he left, and no transactions were made on his bank cards before he was found.

Out of respect for the family's privacy, police have said this will be their only update on the case. As of January 9, Daily Mail confirmed there was no further update on the investigation or the cause of death. The community will have a chance to come together and celebrate Stephen Iannotti's life at a memorial service scheduled for January 15 at the high school where he taught and coached.
