Tommy Fury has been criticised after footage emerged showing him pushing another competitor during the Great North Run. The 26-year-old boxer and TV personality was filmed elbowing a fellow runner out of the way as he approached the finish line on Sunday.
The incident, which has gone viral on TikTok, shows Fury wrestling the man aside with noticeable force in the final moments of the half marathon. Many viewers condemned the act as unsportsmanlike, with one calling it a 'straight disqualification' and another questioning his 'running etiquette'.
The runner who was shoved was reportedly raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK. Fury completed the race in a time of 1:34:35, beating his target of under 1:40:00. He had previously joked about his aggressive running style after a similar incident at the Tatton 10km in January, saying 'no grannies were hurt'.
Fury has not yet commented on the latest controversy. The Great North Run, which runs from Newcastle to South Shields, is one of the UK's most popular half marathons.
