Sergey Lapin, Director of Team Usyk, has responded to Simon Jordan's comments about Anthony Joshua's knockout victory over Kristian Prenga. Jordan, a talkSPORT presenter, suggested something was not right with the fight, claiming it was designed to maximise money.
Lapin dismisses Jordan's theory
In an interview with Action Network, Lapin said: "What do I think of Simon Jordan’s comments? I suppose they also told Prenga to walk straight into a punch that weighed one and a half tonnes. Everyone is entitled to their own theories. I have a friend who still believes the Earth is flat and that space doesn’t exist. Personally, I’d rather discuss what actually happened inside the ring than someone else’s imagination."
Joshua's comeback win
Joshua returned to the ring on Saturday night for the first time since a car crash in Nigeria that resulted in the deaths of close friends Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami. He was dropped twice in the opening round by Prenga, but rallied to a second round knockout. The win sets up a fight with long-time rival Tyson Fury, scheduled before the end of the year.
Lapin's view on Joshua vs Fury
Lapin also discussed the potential Joshua-Fury bout. He said: "Time certainly plays a role. It helps you recover, refine your game, and sharpen your timing. But time alone doesn’t win great fights. When it comes to Joshua versus Fury, I genuinely believe AJ can knock Tyson Fury out. This is the kind of fight where one mistake changes everything. Both men have what I call a “red button”—one decisive shot capable of ending the night. The question isn’t whether the fight happens in one month or six. The question is who finds that moment first. That’s why I believe AJ can finish the fight inside the distance."
