Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua have been temporarily suspended from boxing following their controversial heavyweight bout in Miami. The Florida Athletic Commission imposed the suspensions as a standard procedure after the match, which saw Paul defeated by Joshua in the sixth round.
Paul will face a minimum 30-day ban from all boxing activity, though reports suggest it could be extended to 60 or 90 days due to the severity of the beating he received. It is suspected that Paul sustained a broken jaw during the fight.
The match was widely criticised for its lack of competitiveness, with Paul frequently resorting to evasive tactics and falling to the canvas. Joshua eventually cornered his opponent, knocking him down in the fifth round before the referee halted the contest in the sixth.
Both fighters must undergo medical assessments and observe a compulsory seven-day rest period starting immediately. Paul stated he would take a break to heal, saying, 'I will heal the broken jaw, come back and fight people my weight.'
Following his victory, Joshua called out Tyson Fury, with reports suggesting they are close to agreeing a long-awaited fight in Riyadh in 2026.
