Oleksandr Usyk has delivered a brutal message to Jake Paul, telling the YouTuber-turned-boxer to quit the sport. The Ukrainian heavyweight champion made the remark during a promotional video for his upcoming undisputed title fight against Tyson Fury, when asked to associate a word with Paul.
Paul, who has built a boxing career fighting influencers and MMA fighters, faces former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, now 58, in Texas this summer. The fight has drawn criticism from the boxing community, with many questioning the legitimacy of a bout against a fighter nearly three decades Paul's senior.
Usyk, meanwhile, is preparing to face Fury on May 18 in a historic clash to crown the first four-belt heavyweight champion and the division's first undisputed king since Lennox Lewis in 1999. The fight has been postponed multiple times due to Fury's cut and previous scheduling issues.
“I’m not 100 per cent sure [the fight will happen],” Usyk said. “I will be sure when I’m in the ring.” Fury, however, expressed confidence: “I’m in fantastic shape. I’m having a fantastic training camp and have got a good team around me, everything is going to plan.”
Usyk, who previously dominated the cruiserweight division, aims to emulate Evander Holyfield by becoming undisputed heavyweight champion. The bout promises to be a landmark event in boxing history.
