Gary Lineker to Host New ITV Gameshow 'The Box'

Gary Lineker is set to host a new Saturday night gameshow on ITV, titled 'The Box', according to reports. The former Match of the Day presenter, who left the BBC in May, has signed a deal with the broadcaster to front the show, which involves celebrities being placed in boxes and completing challenges.

The format, originally from Norway, has already been sold to Denmark and is expected to fill the flagship Saturday night slot previously occupied by Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway. A source told the Sun: 'The Box is massive in Norway, and the rights were quickly sold to Denmark and now the UK. ITV are really excited about it and believe they have finally found a worthy successor to Saturday Night Takeaway.'

Lineker, 64, parted ways with the BBC in May after a 30-year relationship, following controversy over his social media activity. He apologised for reposting a pro-Palestine video on Instagram that included an antisemitic symbol, and had previously been suspended in 2023 for criticising the government's asylum policy.
