Frank Bruno raises Tyson Fury injury fears ahead of Joshua fight
Frank Bruno raises Tyson Fury injury fears before Joshua bout

Frank Bruno has said he has heard rumours that Tyson Fury may be carrying an injury that could stop him from facing Anthony Joshua on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The former heavyweight world champion shared the concern while appearing on Fight Your Corner, in partnership with Midnite, alongside former cruiserweight Tony Bellew. The pair discussed Joshua's chances of beating Fury in the long-awaited all-British heavyweight clash.

Bruno's Warning From the Gym

During the conversation, Bruno said: "I looked at him the other day and I think someone was talking to me in the gym that he's got some injury, which may stop him from going into the fight with Anthony Joshua? And having that on your head ain't nice."

Bellew responded by suggesting Fury may be playing mind games, saying: "He plays up to the camera, Frank. I think he wants to, you know, he's going to be saying certain things. I do think Tyson Fury is the master of the mind games. Yeah, he's very, very good at it. Very, very good at the mind games."

Joshua's Path to Victory

Bruno praised Joshua, saying: "He's a very, very good guy, Anthony Joshua. He's got a puncher's chance against Fury, but Fury is a very difficult guy." Bellew added: "You've summed it up perfectly. I think that AJ doesn't win this fight on points. He can only win it by knockout."

Bellew also noted Fury's age and vulnerabilities, saying: "I think Tyson Fury is a very good boxer, but he's shown vulnerabilities and he's only getting at this age and at this part of your career, you're not getting quicker. You're only getting slower."

No Sign of Withdrawal Yet

Bruno also spoke about Fury's behaviour at press conferences, saying: "I see him at the press conferences and he really says crazy things that get right under your skin. Very controversial what he says, and no one's ever going to agree with everything he says, but one thing that we can all agree on is he's a world-class fighter."

So far, Fury has given no indication that he will withdraw from the bout. The fight card is taking shape after Wednesday afternoon's announcement that cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia will move up to heavyweight to face former champion Deontay Wilder.
