Ellie Scotney, a unified and Ring Magazine world champion, is set to make her debut as a BBC pundit this Saturday for the Frazer Clarke vs. Jeamie 'TKV' Tshikeva bout. The 27-year-old from Lewisham, London, will offer expert analysis on the fight.
Scotney's scheduled bout against Mayelli Flores on the undercard of Jake Paul's exhibition with Gervonta Davies was cancelled due to an injury in training. The entire card was scrapped after Paul agreed to fight Anthony Joshua next month. When Scotney does return to the ring, she will become the youngest British boxer ever to fight for the undisputed world championship.
Earlier this year, Scotney fought at Madison Square Garden in an historic event streamed on Netflix, defeating Yamileth Mercado. Her rapid rise began just five years ago when she left her job at B&Q to pursue professional boxing. Speaking in 2020, she said: 'I left B&Q a couple of weeks ago when I managed to get a sponsor... I won’t miss the early shifts but I did nick my little orange bucket hat and almost brought it with me for the ring walk.'
Scotney's journey started with a message to YouTube star Jake Paul, which he initially ignored. She then contacted his right-hand man, Nakisa Bidarian, and 'everything kind of fell into place.' She confirmed that Paul has since read the message, joking: 'That’s even worse. I’d rather be in his requests. But Nakisa came through and he opened it.'
In 2023, Scotney claimed she was removed from the Taylor vs. Cameron card at the request of Chantelle Cameron due to a fractured relationship with her trainer, Shane McGuigan. Cameron responded, citing mental health concerns and a past NDA that prevented her from discussing the situation. Scotney expressed heartbreak at having her dream taken away.
