Tyson Fury has announced his return to boxing after a brief retirement, confirming he will face Arslanbek Makhmudov on 11 April in the UK. The venue is yet to be revealed, but the fight will be streamed live on Netflix, marking the platform's first live sports broadcast in Britain.
The 37-year-old former two-time heavyweight world champion retired in early 2025 following consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk. However, he recently signalled his intention to return and has been training for a comeback. Fury now plans a busy 2026, aiming for three fights and a renewed charge toward the top of the heavyweight division.
Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh expressed his delight at Fury's decision, calling the clash an 'exciting heavyweight showdown'. Netflix's Vice President of Sports, Gabe Spitzer, praised Fury as 'one of the most resilient and captivating boxers of his generation' and said the platform is thrilled to broadcast his homecoming.
Fury himself took to Instagram to confirm the news, writing: 'Well it's official im back doing what i love to do. Iv brought the biggest network along with me... this is going to be astronomical.' He also hinted at a potential all-British clash with Fabio Wardley later in 2026, should his return fight go well.
Wardley, who won the WBO interim belt in October and was later upgraded to full champion, is also scheduled to fight in April, though his opponent is yet to be named. Fury had been tipped to face Anthony Joshua, but Joshua's future remains uncertain after a car crash in December that killed two of his close friends.
