Campbell Hatton, the son of late boxing legend Ricky Hatton, has spoken publicly for the first time since his father's sudden death, describing the family as 'knocked for six'. The 24-year-old former boxer expressed his heartbreak in an interview with ITV, thanking the public for their overwhelming support.
Ricky Hatton, a former two-weight world champion, was found dead at his Manchester home on September 14. Police have said his death is not being treated as suspicious. The 46-year-old had failed to appear at a fight two days earlier, prompting concern from his manager and close friend Paul Speak, who discovered his body.
Campbell, who bears a striking resemblance to his father and was often called his 'Mini-Me', retired from boxing in July this year with a record of 14-2. He had suffered back-to-back defeats to James Flint, with his final bout in October 2024. After losing his 'mojo', he took his father's advice and left the sport to become a solar panel fitter.
Speaking about his father's death, Campbell said: 'We just can't get our heads round it at the minute. To so many he was Ricky Hatton the boxer, but to me he was just my dad.' The funeral is scheduled for October 10 in Manchester, where fans are expected to pay their respects.
