Manchester United have been handed a double transfer update as they look to strengthen their squad before the new Premier League season begins. Bayern Munich's Kim Min-jae has confirmed he will stay, while Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi reportedly wants a move to a big club.
Kim Min-jae commits to Bayern
Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae has declared he will remain and battle for his position at the German club. United had been linked with a move for the 29-year-old South Korea international, but he is determined to stay with Vincent Kompany's squad.
"As a player, just to be with a team like Bayern Munich is a blessing," Kim said. "Last season, I thought I played a lot of matches. I am competing as the third defender [behind Upamecano and Tah], and I know I have no choice but to work hard."
Bayern boss Kompany praised Kim's attitude, saying: "What I will give a compliment to Min-jae [about] is that no matter what, he keeps the focus, and he does the talking on the pitch."
Lucumi keen on big move
United are reportedly among several clubs chasing Bologna centre-back Jhon Lucumi, who is seeking a prominent transfer this summer. The 28-year-old was part of Colombia's World Cup squad and is said to have attracted interest from Juventus.
According to Quotidiano Sportivo, Juventus have seen a £15m offer rejected by Bologna, who value Lucumi at £24m. United are also understood to have expressed interest, but face competition from Chelsea, Como, Napoli, and Nottingham Forest.
Lucumi allegedly "wants the big clubs", which could boost United's chances. The defender has spent four seasons with Bologna, making 43 appearances across all competitions last term.
