Paulie Malignaggi has challenged Conor McGregor to a 'winner-takes-all' fight, reigniting their long-standing rivalry. The pair first clashed in 2017 during sparring sessions ahead of McGregor's boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
Speaking to SiriusXMBoxing, Malignaggi stated: 'The only way that I'd fight Conor McGregor is if it's winner-takes-all at this point. I wouldn't fight Conor McGregor, there wouldn't be any kind of negotiations it's either winner-takes-all or we don't fight.'
McGregor is currently recovering from a broken leg suffered in his UFC 264 defeat to Dustin Poirier. He faces a suspension until at least August 2022 and must be cleared by an orthopaedic doctor before returning to action.
Malignaggi believes he is a more lucrative opponent for McGregor than YouTube star Jake Paul, who has also been linked to a fight with the Irishman. 'He makes more money fighting me than anybody else other than maybe Jake Paul,' Malignaggi added.
McGregor has not boxed since his 2017 loss to Mayweather, but has been linked to fights with Manny Pacquiao, Nate Diaz, and Rafael Dos Anjos. However, Malignaggi remains confident that a showdown between them is the most financially appealing option.
