Swansea City defender Sam Parker has joined Wycombe Wanderers on loan for the upcoming season. The 20-year-old right-back will spend the 2026-27 campaign in League One under former Swans manager Michael Duff.
Development path
Parker made his senior debut for Swansea under interim boss Alan Sheehan shortly after Duff's dismissal in December 2023. He has since made 16 first-team appearances, though his progress was hindered by a serious hamstring injury over two years ago.
Recent form and praise
Despite injury setbacks, Parker impressed during a brief run under head coach Vitor Matos last season. Matos praised the youngster's development, stating: "I am really happy with Sam. Clearly he is someone who everyone relies on now, which is really good for a 19-year-old who made his debut and then had a massive injury and took a proper knock."
Matos added: "His confidence is growing, he is feeling much more comfortable... he offers a lot when he drives forward, he is quick and he delivers good crosses."
Loan move
Parker was included in Swansea's pre-season trip to Austria and had been considered for a first-team spot this season. However, the club deemed a loan spell beneficial for his development. Wycombe Wanderers are managed by Michael Duff, under whom Parker never played during Duff's tenure at Swansea.
