Nicola Olyslagers won the Diamond League high jump final in Zurich with an Australian and Oceanian record of 2.04 metres, the best jump in the world this year. The 28-year-old double Olympic silver medallist cleared six heights without a failure, adding a centimetre to her previous national record of 2.03 metres set in September 2023.
Olyslagers outduelled world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine, who equalled her season's best with 2.02 metres but finished second. Britain's Morgan Lake cleared two metres for the first time to take third with a national record. Olyslagers becomes the third Australian woman to win a Diamond League title, after Sally Pearson and Nina Kennedy.
'I've been trying to get that height for a few years now – and today I got the Diamond trophy on top – what a day!' Olyslagers said. 'It's very special. I didn't ever imagine when I was a child that I would get to this height.' She reflected on her competition with Mahuchikh, calling it 'one of my favourite things in the world.'
In other events, long jumper Liam Adcock leapt 8.24 metres for third place, while Armand Duplantis won the pole vault on countback after clearing 6.00 metres. Australian Kurtis Marschall finished fourth with 5.65 metres.
