Ferrari endured a disastrous start to the Italian Grand Prix as Charles Leclerc crashed out after spinning off on the third lap. The incident occurred at the Parabolica curve, the same corner where he also hit the barrier in the Monza race six years ago, after dipping a wheel onto the white line and losing grip.
First-lap duel with Hamilton
The crash came after a first lap which saw Leclerc challenged by team-mate Lewis Hamilton for third place. The seven-time world champion attempted a move up the inside heading into the first chicane, only to find himself on the outside in the second part of the section and, in his view, unfairly treated by the man in the other Ferrari.
Fans react at Monza
Ferrari fans groaned as Leclerc span off into the barrier at high speed. The race was later suspended following a separate huge crash that left fans in tears.
