Hamilton medical checks after Singapore GP illness

Lewis Hamilton was taken for medical checks after feeling unwell following the Singapore Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen claimed victory and Kimi Antonelli moved to within one win of the world championship.

Hamilton skipped his media duties on Sunday after falling unwell in the paddock post-race. The Ferrari driver was seen crouching and staring at the floor after climbing out of his car and was sent to the medical bay.

Verstappen wins as Antonelli closes on title

Max Verstappen secured his second straight victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, but Kimi Antonelli finished third and now sits on 340 points. The 20-year-old could win his first world title at the United States Grand Prix if he wins and teammate George Russell finishes 10th or lower.

Mercedes lead the constructors' championship by 134 points over Ferrari. Speaking after the race, Antonelli said: "For sure, but at the same time, I know it's very close, I know it's there, but I just need to make sure that I keep doing the best I can. You know, the mindset is always the same, to go out there and win and perform the best way I can. I think this weekend I haven't particularly driven that well."

Hamilton's difficult race and apology

Hamilton had a tough race, slipping from third to sixth after deciding against a pit stop. He abandoned the two-stop strategy after realising his tyres were fine, but Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri overtook him, and he finished outside the podium places.

Before feeling unwell, Hamilton apologised to his team over the radio, saying: "Sorry boys, I let you down today with that strategy. My call lost us valuable points. I'll try to make up for it [on the] next one. Great job with pit stops."

Sky Sports presenter Simon Lazenby confirmed Hamilton's medical attention live on air, stating: "We were hoping to hear from Lewis Hamilton before we go; however, he got out of the car, and he was feeling unwell, so he has gone to the medical centre. He has been given dispensation not to go to the pen and face the world's media."

Sky Sports apology over cooldown room language

Sky Sports presenter David Croft apologised after broadcasts caught X-rated language from Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Antonelli in the cooldown room. The microphones were cut, and the feed was moved away from the area.

Croft said: "I apologise for Max Verstappen's language there. And Charles Leclerc's. ... (sound gets cut) ... Let's leave it there, shall we?" He later added: "Apologies for some of the colourful language you may have heard from the cooldown room."
