Ennis-Hill joins Sinfield's ultra marathon for MND

Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis-Hill is set to provide a major boost to Kevin Sinfield's latest fundraising campaign by joining him for a gruelling stage of his ultra marathon challenge.

Golden Support for a Gruelling Challenge

The former heptathlon star, who lives in Sheffield, will run alongside Sinfield on Thursday, 4 December 2025. This marks the fourth leg of his '7 in 7 Together' challenge, where he is attempting to run an ultra marathon every day for a week across the UK.

Sinfield, the former Leeds Rhinos and England rugby league captain, began his sixth annual challenge on Monday. His incredible efforts have already raised over £10 million for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charities. This funding was instrumental in establishing a specialist MND care centre in Leeds, the first of its kind in the country.

A Mission Inspired by Friendship

Sinfield's fundraising journey began after his former teammate and close friend, Rob Burrow, was diagnosed with the cruel disease. He has since become a global figure in the fight against MND, earning worldwide plaudits for his relentless dedication.

Ennis-Hill's involvement represents one of the most high-profile endorsements of Sinfield's campaign to date. The London 2012 Olympic heptathlon champion and three-time world champion is expected to significantly amplify awareness of the cause.

Since retiring from athletics in 2016, Ennis-Hill has built a successful media career and serves as a patron for several charities, including the Sheffield Children's Hospital.

The Fight Against MND Continues

Sinfield recently stated that the news of England Rugby World Cup winner Lewis Moody's MND diagnosis was a "stark" reminder of why the campaigning must persist. Moody himself plans to host a fundraising dinner in April and is considering organising a charity bike ride in 2026.

After completing the Sheffield leg with Ennis-Hill, Sinfield's challenge will continue through Cumbria and Scotland before concluding in Leeds on Sunday. His unwavering mission remains to find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
