Duplantis Soars to New Pole Vault World Record in Stockholm

Armand Duplantis broke the men's pole vault world record for the 12th time on home soil in Stockholm, clearing 6.28m on his first attempt. The two-time Olympic champion, competing for Sweden, improved his previous mark by 1cm in front of a jubilant crowd at the Olympiastadion.

Duplantis, 25, had promised fans he would attempt the record and encouraged their support from the start. After cruising through the competition, he raised the bar from 6m to 6.28m and soared over with apparent ease, tearing off his singlet in celebration with his partner and family.

'This was one of my biggest goals and dreams, to set a world record here at Stadion,' Duplantis said. 'It's like the Olympics and Stadion, they're the same level for me. I really wanted to do it, I had my whole family here, from both sides, it's magic.'
