Louise Redknapp has announced the death of her beloved dog Rudi, aged 12, in an emotional social media post. The former Eternal singer, 51, shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, describing her pet as the "most gentle, loving boy" who had been part of the family for over a decade.
A Devastating Family Loss
Redknapp, who was married to Jamie Redknapp from 1998 until 2017 and shares sons Charley, 21, and Beau, 17, with him, wrote: "Our hearts are broken, our gorgeous boy Rudi went to sleep forever today. Thank you for 12 amazing years of love and memories Rudes, you were the most gentle, loving boy, you've grown old watching Chaz and Beau grow up and kept Banks in check from day one and been my shadow since the day we got you as a tiny wrinkly puppy."
The former Strictly Come Dancing star concluded her tribute by saying she and her family would deeply miss their pet, noting he would be "reunited" with her dog Blu, who died in 2022. She added: "We're going to miss you doing what ever you feel like doing when you feel like doing it, managing to escape any barricade put in place 'Roudini', telling Banksy off, pawing us all for strokes 24/7 and most of all those wrinkles and that little curly tail wagging when we come through the front door."
Support from Celebrity Friends
Redknapp received an outpouring of support from her celebrity friends. Spice Girl Emma Bunton commented: "I'm so sorry Louise, heartbroken for you. Sending love." This Morning host Cat Deeley added: "Sending all my love," while former Hear'Say member Myleene Klass wrote: "so sorry louise."
Amber Davies, who performed alongside Louise in the Dolly Parton musical 9 to 5, said: "Oh Lou, sending you so much love," and Kate Ferdinand commented: "Oh Lou...the worst feeling x". All Saints duo Nicole and Natalie Appleton also expressed their sympathies, as did former EastEnders stars Tamzin Outhwaite and Denise Van Outen, along with Westlife's Brian McFadden and Dannii Minogue.
Previous Loss of Blu
Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford, who revealed earlier this week that her dog Maggie had died, also sent a heartfelt message: "Oh darling I'm so sorry...we lost ou beautiful Maggie this week. Feeling your pain and sending you and the boys massive love. Hold your memories close."
Back in 2022, Redknapp shared a similarly emotional post when her dog Blu died, writing: "I am absolutely heartbroken that we had to say goodbye to our little girl Blu early this morning. I am going to miss you so much my darling girl your escaping through the fence, chasing the squirrels out of the garden, our long walks in the woods watching you run carefree, going upstairs when we say 'bed time' and getting on mummy's bed instead of in your own and most of all your kisses and cuddles every day."
