He has been hailed by a Bafta-winning producer as a rising star whose upcoming credits will see him feature in 'major' productions. And as he appears on screen alongside Hollywood icon Kiefer Sutherland, it is clear those predictions about Scots actor Solly McLeod were spot on.
From Orkney to Hollywood
McLeod, who grew up in Orkney before relocating to London at the age of ten, stars alongside Sutherland in Brothers Under Fire. Sutherland plays an army captain whose squadron runs afoul of a cartel while attending a comrade's wedding in Mexico. A trailer reveals McLeod's character sparking the conflict when he inadvertently insults one of the gang members.
The film is just one of several projects featuring the 26-year-old McLeod this year. He also stars in Anxious People alongside Angelina Jolie. In addition to the new trailer with Sutherland, McLeod appears in another preview of an upcoming drama set to stream on Apple TV, titled Star City.
Major Productions Ahead
His involvement in Star City sees him alongside Notting Hill star Rhys Ifans and Anna Maxwell Martin, best known for playing the lead in sitcom Motherland. He is also among the cast for the upcoming film Practical Magic 2, a sequel to the 1998 romantic fantasy starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock. Kidman and Bullock are reprising their roles as sisters Gillian and Sally Owens, respectively, who descend from a long line of witches.
McLeod has also been filming scenes for a Channel 4 series called Careless, also starring fellow Scot and Harry Potter star Katie Leung, which focuses on the foster care system.
