London Mayor Sadiq Khan has dismissed criticism from Donald Trump, claiming the US president is 'obsessed' with him and lives 'rent-free inside this guy’s head'. Sir Sadiq characterised Trump as a 'nativist, protectionist and unilateralist' who believes in 'mono-ethnicism' and the superiority of his religion and Americans.
Khan's Response to Trump
In a recent interview, Khan positioned London as the 'antithesis' of Trump's beliefs, describing it as a 'progressive, liberal, diverse, multicultural' city. He suggested Trump spreads 'disinformation' about London because its citizens elected a Muslim mayor of Pakistani origin.
Trump's Previous Remarks
Trump previously called Khan a 'horrible, vicious, disgusting mayor' in December, linking his election to immigration and criticising his performance. Khan expressed concern about Trump normalising extreme views and dismissed the attacks as an 'absurd obsession'.
The exchange highlights ongoing tensions between the two leaders, with Khan vowing to continue defending London's values against what he sees as divisive rhetoric from the White House.
