Homeware shoppers looking for a 'stylish' bedside lamp could be in luck at B&M. Known for selling homeware and furniture, the high street store might have a new crowd-pleaser on its hands.
The popular chain is selling a 'decorative' £12 lamp that's said to be 'perfect for sidetables and bedsides.' With a trendy 'mushroom' design, it also arguably resembles a pricier style from another well-loved retailer. As shown on the B&M website, the store is stocking a £12 Cream Mushroom Lamp.
Shoppers could compare the style to Next's £45 Nickel Lambeth Rechargeable Wireless Table Lamp. While there are notable differences in design and construction, there are also several similarities.
Both high street stores have opted for a cream mushroom shade with a silver-coloured stand on a round base. B&M shoppers could therefore prefer the cheaper option if price is a key consideration. However, the Next option is still likely to have many fans, owing to its nickel base and wireless design.
Customers who are keen to compare the lights can view product images and descriptions online. Both retailers showcase the lamps on their websites, though B&M customers can't buy the lamp online.
B&M's product description says: "This decorative Mushroom Lamp makes a stylish addition to your home. Perfect for sidetables and bedsides." Elsewhere, Next's product description says: "Lambeth features a polished nickel base and a gloss opal glass shade. A perfect and portable addition to your home."
The Next lamp is available in nickel or brass. The two designs have proven popular with customers, earning an average rating of 4.5 out of five from shoppers on Next's website.
Rating their purchase, one reviewer said: "So good, I bought it twice. Classy, art deco-style, rechargeable lamp that give off a really good level of light (particularly in comparison to many offers from other retailers). Perfect for the side tables in my guest bedroom, I can also see one, at least, being used on summer nights in the garden: I may even have to buy a third!"
Another comment read: "Very handy being cordless and lovely look to it. This is the second one we have brought, this one is for the hallway gives off a nice atmosphere lighting."
For fans of the mushroom lamp style, several high street retailers offer more designs. For instance, Dunelm sells a £15 Mushroom Rechargeable Touch Dimmable Table Lamp. While it doesn't offer the same look as the other lamps, using a colourful blue base, it could impress customers looking for bright homeware.
The description says: "This compact mushroom‑shaped lamp gives off a soft, diffused glow thanks to its smooth dome top. With touch‑controlled dimming, you can switch between brightness levels to suit anything from winding down to working late."
