King Charles's US Visit Security Under Review After Washington Shooting

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that security arrangements for King Charles's state visit to the United States are under review following a shooting incident in Washington DC. The incident occurred on Saturday night when a gunman attempted to storm a dinner attended by Donald Trump, prompting a Secret Service evacuation.

No fatalities were reported, but one officer was shot and taken to hospital. The suspect, 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an officer with a dangerous weapon. He is believed to have been carrying a shotgun and handgun.

In a statement on Sunday, Buckingham Palace said the visit would proceed as planned, with modest adjustments to one or two engagements. The King and Queen expressed gratitude to those working to ensure the visit's security and are looking forward to the trip.
